The Reality of Speciesism

By no means with this am I trying to illustrate a bias – I’m trying my best to illustrate the facts here and be as objective as possible.

Animal rights is the most important of all rights – women’s, blacks, homosexuals – because it covers all of them. Humans are animals, too, so by supporting animal rights, you’re supporting everyone’s rights.

Nonhuman animals are the most discriminated and oppressed in this world. We talk about black oppression and white privilege, which does exist, but it doesn’t compare to human privilege. Those who happened to be born as the human animal species realistically have it better than any other species. You may argue this oppression is justified, but it doesn’t change the fact that it exists.

Most humans are speciest, which, similar to sexism and racism, is a discrimination against nonhuman animals and a belief that one’s own species is superior.

Then there is the religious element. Many humans believe their God gave human animals dominion over other animals – and thus, they’re here for our food and entertainment. This in itself is oppression at its finest – in a world that prides itself on freedom of religion, nonhuman animals are tyrannically forced to live by religious beliefs of humans.

This is not a post advocating that we stop eating animals. This is a post intended to inform humans that that there is no objective, intrinsic, inherent difference between the value of human animals and nonhuman animals; all animals are inherently equal in value, and more, the religious must accept that nonhuman animals were not put here by a deity for human purposes, any more than we are here for them – they simply exist to exist, for the same reasons we do.

About 6 million died in the holocaust and it’s considered a historical tragedy. 120 million nonhuman animals die annually for our food. And it’s not a fun death, either; they are put into factory farms where they are confined, tortured, raped (artificial insemination), deprived of their natural lives, and have their children taken away from them. They are totally innocent beings who have had worse lives than prisoners, all for being born the wrong species. Open your eyes.
